About 150 Belarusian citizens have come today, on the Day of Belarusian Solidarity, at 8 p.m. to the Embassy of Russia in Minsk. They showed their protest against the support of Alyaksandr Lukashenka’s dictatorship by Russian regime. The Belarusians have lit candles by the fence of the Embassy. Many of them had jeans ribbons, that have become a symbol of freedom in Belarus.

Activists of youth organizations, famous human rights watchdogs, politicians, including the Charter’97 coordinator, former deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus Andrei Sannikov, and a deputy chairman of the United Civil Party Ludmila Hraznova, and common citizens. Each of them brought a candle and lit it near the Embassy.

Officers of the Embassy haven’t come out to the participants of the peace protest. Instead of that several buses with special task troops. Policemen of the special task force (former OMON) were on duty by the building, and video filmed the scene.

In half an hour after the rally’s beginning its participants left burning candles on the sidewalk by the embassy. Policemen in mufti checked documents of protesters who started to disband, and wrote down information about them. Policemen in mufti, however, refused to show their credentials.
